No matter your age, sex or physical capacity: When correctly done, Pilates will keep your body in the best shape possible.
This method, devised by Joseph Pilates, has proved its efficienty for decades, and is still increasing in popularity around the world. This holistic training method brings body and mind into harmony. It improves strength, posture, coordination, breath, concentration, flexibility and endurance by carrying out controlled, flowing movements. The comprehensive training program is carried out on a mat, and with specially-designed equipment.
Pilates is very effective and works the entire body. In a short amount of time, the exercises allow you to more easily tackle everyday physical tasks. At the same time, you’ll notice that the training makes you more agile and flexible.
Motion sequences begin in the core muscles of the body (abdominal muscles, muscles of the lower back, gluteal muscles and deep-lying core muscles) and in the spine. From there, they flow into the limbs. This creates controlled, flowing movements – much like a dancer’s – that are both powerful and graceful.
The Pilates method is a gentle, efficient whole-body system of exercising. It develops ease and the self-conception of movements, and serves as a health programme for both laymen and competitive athletes.
