Craniosacral Therapy

In the early 20th century, Dr. W.G. Sutherland developed craniosacral therapy, a form of bodywork based on and developed further from osteopathy.

There is a circulation of cerebrospinal fluid between the skull (cranium) and the sacrum (pelvis) – the liquid that flows aroud the brain and spinal marrow. The pulsing movement of this liquid transfers itself onto various tiussues of the body (bones, muscles and connective tissue), and can be discerned be the entire body. The free flowing of this is an expression of health and wellbeing.

Physical and mental injuries, tension, pain and stress can all impede or hinder movement. With gentle touches and light impulses, the body is encouraged to adjust itself back to its natural equilibrium.
