Manual lymphatic drainage is a therapy form that, nowadays has become a common and wide-spread treatment method in physical therapy.
In order for our body to work as a functional unit, both the buildup and the depletion of substances, as well as the transportation of substances must be in balance. To maintain these bodily functions, both the buildup and the depletion, as well as the delivery and breakdown of substances have to be in balance. In order to maintain these functions, our entire body is outfitted with a lymphatic system.
The lymphatic system’s most important job is transporting the «waste products» that our metabolism creates back into the bloodstream. MLD is a gentle technique, utilising rhythmic stroking and cupping strokes, which stimulate the lymph flow, and thus relieve conditions such as «heavy» legs or post-op swelling. In addition, the body’s self-healing powers are supported, and the treatment is meant to be deeply relaxing.
